Please, hydrate your chia seeds
Chia seeds are another superfood ingredient that had become a staple ingredient in almost every kitchen and restaurant. And it has his own reasons for that.
But there is something that really annoys me is when I go eat to out and I find my chia seeds dry…. every time I see it, I go back 12 years ago and just laugh remembering the first time I need to had chia seeds due to a physiological problem…I went to the pharmacy and requested the most natural solution for constipation. They gave me a package with individual packs of chia seeds and said to take a pack with water…well I went home, poured the chia seeds into a spoon, then into my mouth and tried to swallow them with a glass of water. It was not a pretty task or a comfortable moment, fortunately, nothing major happens. All this to say that I learned the hard way that chia must be consumed in the form of a gel.
You might be wondering that there is no harm having them sprinkled in juices, smoothies or yogurts because they are semi hydrate. True, they have some liquid to be ingested, but still not the most beneficial way. Since we are consuming them for all those superpowers, why not consuming in the right way where we can definitely make the most of it?
What happens when you soaked chia seeds
When you soak them they become easier to digest and the nutrients are better absorbed and assimilated in your body. Also, it will prolong hydration and retain electrolytes, especially during exercise.
Soaking chia will activate the seed making it more bio-available to your body, helping to prevent blood sugar spikes, decreasing cholesterol and keeping you hydrated longer.
How to
Prepare in advance your chia gel. Store in a closed container in the fridge and use it as you need. It might last up to 4 days if you don’t consume all before.
You can hydrate them with water, vegetable milk at your choice or any other liquid.
